Founded by SFJAZZ in 2004, the SFJAZZ Collective is an all-star ensemble and composer’s workshop celebrating its 20^th Anniversary in 2024.

The Collective’s mission to perform newly commissioned pieces by each member and fresh arrangements of works by modern masters simultaneously honors music’s greatest figures while championing jazz’s up-to-the-minute directions, embodying SFJAZZ’s commitment to jazz as a living, ever-relevant art form.

To celebrate two decades as a working ensemble, the supergroup will perform a landmark anniversary program honoring the history of the group while looking to its future. In tribute to the artists honored by the Collective over its 20-year history and the world-class composers who have been a part of the ensemble, the band will revisit original compositions and arrangements from its innovative repertoire, updated and reimagined by this singular lineup of jazz masters. Additionally, in the spirit of its name, the band will collectively compose a new suite dedicated to and inspired by the history of the ensemble.
