MIM offers free professional development sessions at the museum for prekindergarten through high school classroom teachers, arts and homeschool educators, and curriculum specialists. Space is limited. Click here to register and ensure receipt of a resource packet and a certificate for tracking professional development hours. On the day of each session, teachers receive free admission to the museum to explore and continue developing lesson plan ideas.
Seating is limited for these sessions. If you have to cancel your registration, please do so at least two weeks beforehand, so your spot can be made available to another educator. To cancel your registration, email programs@MIM.org.
Our education team can also provide virtual professional development sessions for your school or district. Please contact us at programs@MIM.org for pricing and scheduling.
MIM’s education department hosts a series of free drop-in teacher professional development opportunities on select Fridays in July as part of Educator Appreciation Month. Teachers will be able to try several interdisciplinary STEM activities in a classroom space, take home full lesson plans for K–8 students incorporating the activities, and receive guidance from a MIM education team member on the lessons and activities. Topics include modeling sound waves, fractions and ratios in music, and the relationship between coding and music.
Session Dates July 12, 19 & 26 | 1–3 p.m.
It was wonderful to have a class that was for preschool. Nothing has to be adapted. I can go into class on Monday and use the techniques! —Build Early Skills through Music Participant

The PD was well balanced. Lecture, hands-on activities, guided tour and exploration. I came away feeling confident that I can make a field trip very worth the students’ STEM education. —STEM Participant
