He attacks his axe with unbridled ferocity and deep soulfulness. . . . His depth and expression are matched only by his terrifying technique and tone.
—Guitar One
Though Albert always walks a fine line between rock and blues, he demonstrates effortlessly . . . that the blues makes everybody feel great.
—Boston Blues
His muscular guitar work is simply outstanding. He’s a great blues singer as well, with passion for the tunes inherent in his full-throttle approach.
—Rock and Blues Muse
Blues singer and guitarist Albert Cummings has played with many of the modern blues greats, and he has received awards and recognition that few others have. A 1987 Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble concert opened Cummings to a new world of modern blues and inspired Cummings to take up the guitar. His first album, 2003’s From the Heart, was produced by Double Trouble’s Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon and featured the group’s Reese Wynans on keyboards.
From there, the blues world opened its doors. He recorded several albums for Blind Pig Records before reaching beyond the boundaries of the blues and incorporating country and rock influences on 2012’s No Regrets. His latest album, Ten, ventures into rock, country, soul, and Americana, with his songs ranging from soft ballads to wall-ratting barn burners and his rugged, world-wise vocals hitting all the right moods.
