The first time Maria Muldaur and John Jorgenson performed together, the musical chemistry was obvious. In this jazzy take on holiday classics and rarely heard gems from the ’20s and ’30s, Muldaur has curated a fantastic selection of wonderfully hip holiday tunes that Jorgenson has put his special spin on. Expect holiday cheer wrapped up in songs both naughty and nice, with a large dose of swing.
Best known for “Midnight at the Oasis,” Muldaur has toured extensively worldwide for over four decades and has released forty-one albums covering all stripes of American roots music, including gospel, R&B, jazz, and big band, as well as several award-winning children’s albums. Often joining forces with other fine artists, she has recorded and produced, on average, an album per year, several of which have been nominated for Grammy and Blues Foundation awards. These last few years have seen the 50th Anniversary Kweskin Jug Band Reunion concerts, gospel collaborations with the Campbell Brothers, performances with Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, and notable reissues of her early recordings with Jim Kweskin. She remains a revered and preeminent interpreter of American roots music.
Music virtuoso Jorgenson, known for his exquisite guitar licks and world-class musicianship, has collaborated with the likes of Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt, and Bob Dylan. In addition to acoustic and electric guitars, Jorgenson is also regularly featured on mandolin, saxophone, clarinet, bouzouki, pedal steel, and as a vocalist. He has garnered recognition for contributing to Grammy-winning and numerous platinum-selling albums.
