Cantuária’s skills as a singer and guitarist have turned him into a mesmerizing live act.
—Time Out New York
Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist Vinicius Cantuária draws from the rich history of Brazilian music and integrates it with jazz, avant-garde, and pop. His music is a rolling rhythmic whisper filled with dramatic turns and stunning sonic ideas.
For more than four decades, Cantuária has been one of Brazil’s most accomplished songwriters. His songs “Lua e Estrela” and “Só Você” are modern Brazilian pop classics and have sold more than 3 million copies. Cantuária left Brazil in 1994 and moved to Brooklyn to redefine his beloved bossa nova. The results are a captivating new style of bossa nova deeply influenced by music of his heroes: Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Bill Evans, and Antônio Carlos Jobim.
His new project, Psychedelic Rio, is due in March.
